General Show Registration Information
Congratulations for deciding to exhibit your plants in our orchid show! It is a fun and rewarding experience.
The process is rather straightforward. If you are exhibiting plants or setting up an exhibit at an AOS-sanctioned show, you yourself must be registered as an exhibitor, as well as each plant exhibited, and the exhibit itself. Exhibitor registration is the process of assigning each show participant a sequential EXHIBITOR NUMBER; this is done by the Registration Committee. Plant and exhibit registration is the process of assigning category numbers to the plant and/or exhibit; this is done by the exhibitor. An individual SHOW ENTRY TAG must be completed for each plant and exhibit entered for judging.
We no longer use the paper-based entry tag system. We have converted to an electronic registration system and we offer a web-based pre-registration facility. We strongly encourage you to register on-line through this web site. On-line registration will be available beginning Wednesday, April 21st until Thursday, April 22nd. Through the on-line system you can retrieve your display space number, obtain your exhibitor number, and register each show entry directly from the links on the left pane of this page. If you choose to register in person the day of show-up, we need you to provide us a list of your entries. There is a blank form available to print off from this website which you can use to list your show entries. Just click on the link blank entry list form.
The Mid-America Orchid Congress, of which the Greater Cleveland Orchid Society is a member, standardizes this registration process by providing member societies with current classification information, plant abbreviation lists, and general show rules.
The GCOS website provides this registration information in one convenient location. If you prefer, in-person registration can be done during set-up on Friday, April 23rd.
How to Get Started
Under step (1), consult the show rules and classification list to determine into which class each of your plants will be placed. This is a number from 1 to 108. If you are setting up an exhibit, the exhibit itself must also be entered into a class.
Under step (2), print off a copy of the blank entry form. On this form you can list all of your entries and use this as a summary from which you can then proceed to actually enter your plant entries into the on-line database. Each plant owner must also obtain an exhibitor number. Each exhibit erector must also obtain an exhibitor number. Exhibitor numbers are generated automatically when you submit your request for an exhibitor number under category (2) on the left pane of this page.
Once you have submitted your request for an exhibitor number, you can view your number by clicking the appropriate view link under category (3). The same can be done for individual show entries. Remember, you submit just one request for an exhibitor number. Each show entry is submitted individually. When you check in at the registration desk on Friday, judging tags to place on your plants will be printed for you. Whoever is erecting the display in which your plants will be shown is responsible for providing decorative plant labels to be put in place for the general public to read.
